On the 7.6.2014 I left Switzerland to go study mandarin chinese in Shanghai and I remember how excited but also scared I was the night before. I packed so many medicines I could probably open my own drug store and put in and took out stuff and clothes from my bags so many times...
The flight to Shanghai was very long and I was too excited to fell asleep, actually I didn't watched movies too, I don't know how I managed to spend that 12 hours on that airplane but actually I somehow arrived in China without being super tired or jet lagged. I took my bags from the carrousel and went to look for the driver who was waiting for me to take me to the school apartment and at that moment I met the first person I will then spend a lot time with. A swiss guy, he was exactly on the same airplane like me and was going to start exactly the same school the day after. What a small world!
As soon as I arrived at my place I took a shower and went to sleep a couple of hours. After that I couldn't wait to go outside and take my first walk on Nanjing Road, so near to my apartment and go take my first picture at the Bund (the foto I am showing here). That night was actually a very bad night, I remember that all my flatmates who were outside at the time I arrived, were throwing a party in our apartment, screaming and throwing stuff around the apartment. I slept less than one hour in the whole night.
This was the first impression that day, fortunately it became better and better everyday since.
Trust in yourself and follow your heart,
Lisa
